CARLOS GARCIA

Carlos Garcia graduated in Music Education from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML). He studied under Luís Gomes (clarinet), Rui Paiva (organ), Eurico Carrapatoso (composition analysis and techniques) Pedro Moreira,  João Paulo Esteves da Silva, Antoine Hérve (piano jazz), Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, Ernst Shelle, Jean-Marc Burfin and Yibin Seow (orchestra conducting).

 

He is currently concluding his Master degree in Music Education at ESML and taking a degree in piano jazz.

 

He is an assistant professor at ESML in the Music in the Community and Music Education Courses. He teaches at the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional (EMCN), conducting the Junior Orchestra and the EMCN Amadora Branch Orchestra.

 

He conducts workshops on a regular basis for the music sector of the Gulbenkian’s “Descobrir”, a programme for Education and Culture. He plays the piano in a wide range of music style projects (classical, jazz, pop, funk, African) and writes arrangements for many of the projects in which he is involved, regularly. As a composer, his song cycle for children “Cancioneiro da Bicharada” and his “Missa Breve” for choir and string orchestra must be highlighted.
